Growing up in the south we are taught that Friday nights in the fall are reserved for one thing: high school football.

This fall I am working as a "Friday Night Freelancer" for the Dallas Morning News. As a freelancer I travel to games across the North Texas area each week. Specifics of my job include, keeping statistics during the game for fans to follow on the Dallas Morning News website and writing a quick recap describing the game, highlighting each teams top performers.

Friday night football games were a favorite of mine since I was in elementary school. I loved hearing the band, watching the halftime show and cheering in the stands with my friends. The Dallas Morning News gave me the opportunity to experience one of my favorite Texas norms through a different perspective.
